Where to Turn after a Travel Scam

Nolo.com, a website providing free legal information, has released an article to alert consumers as to where to turn to after being subjected to a travel scam. The site recommends that a state or local government agency, like a local prosecutor or state licensing board, be contacted first to discuss the possibility and strict definition of fraud. If the consumer felt further inquiry was necessary, they could contact the federal government agencies, such as the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), who has a lot of information specifically on timeshare resales and traveler’s advisory. Furthermore, if the problem pertained to telemarketing or phone solicitations, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) should be contacted as well. The article also lists private organizations who may help press charges on a more restricted level.
